Exporting an XML file

You can access the Export XML option from views that contain extension metadata, such as the Schema Extension Modification Registry view, Custom Menu Items view, Extension Triggers view, and Code Extensions view.

You use the Export XML option to export customization metadata, such as schema modifications, database-backed variforms, metafield overrides, code extensions, and extension triggers, from N4 to an XML file.

You can use this option to export entity data into an XML file to move data between N4 systems, such as from a staging system to a production system, or to send data model extension configuration to Navis for support.

The Export Type column in the Variforms view (on page 1) (Administration Settings Variforms) indicates which variforms you can export to XML or, rather, GNX.

To be able to use this option, you need the Import and Export Extension Metadata privilege.

To export an XML file:

  1. In the list view, select the entities you want to export to XML.

  1. Select Action Export XML.

  2. In the Export File form:

  1. Browse to the location where you want to save the file.

  1. In the File Name field, enter a name for the XML file.

  2. Click Save.
